This programme is based in a riding centre located in the beautiful Constantia Valley. Set up in 1983 the centre provides a facility for children with a multiple of disabilities such as; autism, cerebral palsy, special education needs and hearing impairment. The classes provide great therapy for the children as they can exercise muscles they don’t normally use and it enables them to gain improved coordination, balance, relaxation, posture and confidence. The classes include the use of music, games and involve coordination exercises and trail rides. The centre uses 12 specially picked horses for the children to ride and they often form a special bond with their particular horse. At the centre you will be assisting in classes (as well as schooling the ponies if you have the necessary experience), working in the stables, helping with the maintenance and admin of the centre as well as being involved in fund raising activities. This programme is perfectly suited for a horse lover who wants to work with children with disabilities.
